Special Dialogue: "As Adults Watching Over Children's Play, What We Should Consider Now"
A special dialogue about "Yuyuu no Mori Kindergarten," a facility that goes beyond the traditional framework of kindergartens and nurseries, prioritizing the natural development of children.
In 2004, Okabe Corporation was responsible for the construction of "Yuyuu no Mori Nursery and Kindergarten" in Tsuzuki Ward, Yokohama City. The facility, which integrates the functions of a nursery and a kindergarten, began construction in the fall of 2004 and opened in the spring of 2005. Going beyond the traditional boundaries of kindergartens and nurseries, this facility prioritizes the natural development of children. It was designed by Mitsuru Senda, a leading figure in children's facilities in Japan from Tokyo Institute of Technology, in collaboration with the Environmental Design Institute (EDI), and has received numerous awards. As a model project for comprehensive facilities, it has garnered significant attention nationwide, attracting many visitors from both domestic and international locations. We held a special discussion at Yuyuu no Mori Nursery and Kindergarten with Principal Hidenori Watanabe, Director Kuroda from Okabe Corporation's Park Facilities Department, and Masano from the Tokyo branch, reflecting on the relationship between Yuyuu no Mori Nursery and Kindergarten and Okabe Corporation since its opening, as well as on playground equipment and children's development. ★ The content of the discussion can be viewed via "PDF Download."
